Tragedy Of A Friedship
(2013) |
||||||
Stage Works - Dance theatre also look at Musiktheater und Performance |
|||||||
Wagner versus Nietzsche: a fatal friendship In 2013, it will be 200 years since Richard Wagner was born: an ideal time to turn the spotlight on this legendary composer. The Flanders Opera invited Jan Fabre to make a musical theatre creation on the subject of Wagner, who is one of his favourite artistic figures. He was inspired by Wagner's 13 operas and the fascinating but tragic association between Wagner and Nietzsche, which ended in a feud. In collaboration with the writer and Nietzsche expert Stefan Hertmans and the German composer Moritz Eggert, the result is an exciting new work of theatre. Coproductio,: Troubleyn/Jan Fabre, Concertgebouw Brugge, Théâtre de la Ville Paris, Opéra de Lille, Wagner Genèva Festival & Holland Festival. |
